Important Information
Please be mindful of props and weapons on display outside the exhibition hall in public spaces and especially on public transport. We advise wrapping weapons for peace of mind for both yourself and the general public.
Please be mindful of any props or costume parts that are larger than 160cm, wider than your own arm span or have parts that trail on the floor. AnimeConUK cannot accept responsibility for any damage that occurs to costumes that are large and cumbersome and potentially get in the way of other attendees.
COSPLAY Rules
- Costumes must be appropriate to wear in public – if you can’t wear it out on your local street, you can’t wear it at AnimeCon UK.
- Naked is not a costume. AnimeCon UK is an event which will draw fans of all ages, including those under 18.
- Cosplay, costumes, and apparel associated with far-right groups and organised hate groups are not allowed at the show. This includes any sort of “ironic” or satirical costumes. For Example: Can you cosplay as a Stormtrooper in Star Wars or the Zeon in Gundam? Yes. The show does not forbid science fiction and fantasy characters with designs loosely inspired by conflict.
- Harassment of any kind is not welcome at the event. Any costume intended to harass, provoke, or intimidate isn’t allowed.
Cosplay is NOT Consent
- Be respectful of all cosplayers. Ask permission to take photographs first. Anime Con UK provides a safe place where fans can celebrate fandom to its fullest.
- Safety, security & an open, inclusive, respectful environment with zero tolerance for misbehaviour are fundamental to the show.
- We do not tolerate violence, mistreatment, or any type of harassment towards staff, exhibitors, guests, or attendees at any of our events.
- If you feel your or others safety is in question, please report directly to security on-site. If you or someone else has been involved in an incident we should be aware of, please report this to the event organisers and security at the show.
Cosplay Prop Rules
- Prop firearms are allowed only if they can’t be mistaken for real weapons. If it looks like a real gun, it cannot come into the event. Realistic prop guns must have their red caps in place.
- No cap guns, airsoft guns, or BB guns at all.
- Prop weapons are allowed at the event if they’re made of cardboard, foam, or similar light material. Plastic and wooden prop weapons are generally OK but must be reviewed by our security team.
- No metal weapons, sharp weapons, or blunt weapons. This includes items like a bokken and baseball bats.
- Prop bows will be allowed providing they are unstrung. All arrows must have soft tips.
- No water guns, silly string, vuvuzelas, or fire
